The holder of an allotment on a Kelvinside Allotment Association (KAA) site is a tenant of Glasgow City Council (GCC). In May 2024 GCC published a complete set of Rules and Regulations in accordance with the Community Empowerment Bill passed in 2015. These rules apply to all GCC allotment sites and can be downloaded by clicking here. However all Glasgow allotment associations are encouraged by GCC to also have their own constitution and set of rules which you can access below. In the case that Allotment Association rules conflict with GCC rules then obviously the GCC rules have priority.

KAA manages two allotment sites on behalf of the landlord, GCC. We have a constitution and rules that reflect the regulations of the council and plot holders must follow these regulations. The ultimate sanction for not conforming is eviction from the plot so all members should be aware of the rules. The rules and constitution, can be viewed or downloaded here.

Kelvinside AA manages a waiting list for people who want to get an allotment. The current waiting time for a plot is about 10 years. To get on the waiting list please email the association at kelvinside.allotments@gmail.com
Obviously in order to manage the association and the waiting list KAA needs to store personal details of members of the site and the waiting list. Your privacy is important to us. Click here to see our privacy statement.
Other sites may have shorter waiting lists. Details of other sites can be found on the City of Glasgow web site The Council now maintains its own waiting list for all Glasgow allotments including our two sites. So it might be wise to apply through the Council as well as through us directly.
Kelvinside AA is a member of the Glasgow Allotments Forum:
The Glasgow Allotment Forum (GAF) represents all allotment associations in Glasgow, whether council owned or private. They have an active program of (currently on line via zoom) talks and discussions, hold an extremely popular seed potato sale in winter and take part in any Glasgow City consultations that involve allotments or growing in general. To see their web site click here
The Scottish Allotments and Gardens Society (SAGS) used to be the organisation that represented all allotment sites in Scotland. Sadly this organisation has just been disbanded. Its duties, particularly to support and advise Scottish allotments, have been passed on to the organisation Social Farms and Gardens. Its trophies for allotments have been passed on to the same organisation,
